Creative Writing Competition

Friends of Cobbett Road Library—in partnership with Awaaz Radio, University of Southampton, Improbable Club, Southampton Story Club, October Books, and Light UP Youth Theatre—would like to invite young people (aged 7-17) across Southampton to enter a creative writing competition on the theme of “Library of the Future.” Participants are invited to write short stories, poems or blogs, reflecting and imagining multiple aspects of the theme:-        What are libraries for? How have they been valued in the past, now and what value will they hold in the future? –         What are libraries going to be like in the future? –         Do you remember the first time you entered a library? What will happen when you enter a future library in your imagination? –          What elements of libraries connect us to the past and push our imagination into new futures? –          What can libraries do in the future for children, young people and other members of the community? The points above can act as inspiration, but we hope young people’s imagination will go beyond them to produce original and creative texts. The deadline for submission of work is the 16th of April 2024 For more information on entry requirements, prizes and regulations, please visit: https://bit.ly/library-of-the-future
